Day 4
Kédougou
Discover the Bedik, or Bassari, country! These are the rare ethnic groups
of the country that still cling to timeless beliefs and traditions. Refusing
to convert to Islam, they took refuge in the Rocky Mountains. Their dwellings
are made of clay and grass roofs. Ritual ceremonies are always moments
that call for a drinks, and plenty of millet beer and palm wine is offered.
Women dress up with colorful necklaces, bracelets and head ornaments while
the men make masks of bark and fibers. After this it is time for another
marvel of the area, the Dundefello waterfalls, where you will also be
served a picnic. Finally you will be brought back to the Hotel Relais
de Kedougou.
