Kaolack/Joal Fadiouth/Somone
Joal, a former Portuguese stopover, is the birthplace of the first president
of Senegal, Leopold Sedar Senghor who was also a member of the French
Academy. You will visit the shell island village of Fadjouth, so called
because over the centuries, the serer consumed seafood and accumulated
the empty shells in their own settlements, which caused the formation
of the shell mound site. There will be served lunch here before you continue
to Somone.
You will spend the night in the Hotel Sorong.
